Unique Puppet Theater was founded in 2012 with the goal of promoting traditional Oriental Heritage puppetry arts.
Theater performance creation targets, adhere to the traditional fine arts manifestations, and improvement of traditional puppetry performances, with the hope to enhance the promotion of traditional puppetry and create a higher artistic value.

The Peony Lantern
This production is a reinterpretation of the classic Japanese ghost story by Sanyūtei Enchō, originally inspired by the Chinese Ming Dynasty tale The Peony Lantern.
Combining elements of Eastern supernatural literature with classical puppet manipulation techniques, the production is presented with modern stage technology and Eastern philosophical aesthetics.
The set design eschews the original cailou (the color pavilion) in favor of simple stage elements that evoke the vastness of heaven and earth. The use of abstract visual scenes and language bridges the gap between reality and illusion. The production not only showcases traditional glove puppetry but also emphasizes the performance and experimentation with humanoid objects to explore the relationship between human consciousness and the representation of “humanoids” or “puppets,” extending the emotional dimensions of ghosts in supernatural literature.
