Flying Group Theatre was founded by Pei-Yu Shih in May, 2004. In Chinese, the name “flying group” is the homonym for “non-human”, which represents puppetry, while also implies the place in which the artists who “fly” around freely in the theatre gathering together. Flying Group Theatre aims to create artworks with the spirit of diversity and integration, also to challenge the traditionally accepted distance between performer and audience.
Flying Group Theatre believes that “everything can be a puppet “. The company hopes that through operation and employment, the inanimate objects, including puppets, can carry emotions and transmit them to the audience.

Long time ago, when I was in my Mum’s belly, I had a lot of dreams. For most of them I’ve forgotten, only this one… A little girl had found an egg in a Whale’s belly. She wanted to keep this egg, but was afraid that it would die. So she decided to look for its mother. On her journey, she met Seagull Mother, Hippocampus Couple, and Clown fish Couple. But neither of them were its parents. While the egg became bigger and bigger. A Giant was burn from it. He continued to grow up. And became the Sky, the Earth, and the World…The little girl woke up, finally. She decided to say farewell to the Whale. And looked to her own Birth.

A Suit Case of Taipei

In Taipei. A man and a woman in the city are having a dinner date. They ride a scooter going through the town to a traditional market to buy ingredients. While they are shopping, the distinctive atmosphere of the traditional market and items unique to Taiwan bring out the taste of life in Taipei. The two grow intimacy while preparing food and cooking, revealing a whimsical world of food and lust - a redemptive fable of secret city symbols penetrating into body and soul.

The little boy and the little girl are good friends. They start their journey to find the day of “growing up.” First, they have to pass through a forest. During the journey, they meet a mermaid, a bird fisher, a person who can transform between male and female…and the king of the forest. In this fantastic adventure, they are looking and searching for the day of “growing up.” Where is the day of “growing up”? Does that day really exist?
The viewer can’t help but let himself go dreaming, feeling sympathy for this puppet who is desperately looking for the parents of the egg. The youngest will delight in this marvelous story, the older ones will only be able to ask themselves questions about the origin of life.
